On 15 December 2017, the Judicial Academy, in cooperation with the Supreme Court of Cassation and the Council of Europe, organized the seminar on the topic: „Drafting of the first-instance court decisions in civil cases“. The seminar was conducted in the auditorium of the Supreme Court of Cassation in Belgrade and it was intended for the judges having up to five years of service as judges of the civil departments of the basic courts, which belong to the Belgrade appellate jurisdiction.
The topics of the seminar included:
- The legal framework and application of the rule of the burden of proof
- Appraisal of the truth of evidence – the evidence procedure and positions of the European Court of Human Rights.
During this seminar, a workshop was also organized at which participants worked on the drafting of a properly structured judgment and the topics were covered, such as quoting of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, rules of quoting, sources of information, and examples of good practice.
The lecturers at this seminar were: Snežana Andrejević, a judge of the Supreme Court of Cassation, Ljubica Milutinović, a judge of the Supreme Court of Cassation, and Nebojša Đuričić, a judge of the Second Basic Court in Belgrade.
