On 22 June 2018, in the lecture-hall of the Judicial Academy in Niš, one of a series of advanced training courses was provided for the prosecutor's offices from the territory of the Appellate Public Prosecutor's Office in Niš related to the application of the Law on the Protection of Whistleblowers.
The following topics were covered within the training course:
- International standards on the protection of whistleblowers
- Experiences of the counselling centres for whistleblowers
- Stories of whistleblowers
- Whistleblowers in criminal proceedings.
The training courses are provided by the Whistle portal, the publisher Association Eutopija in cooperation with the Judicial Academy, the Association Alterfakt and Nedeljnik (i.e. Weekly) magazine within the „Loud whistle“ project with the financial support from the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Serbia. One of the main goals of this project is to enhance the protection and the rights of whistleblowers and, within the project, judicial office holders acquire relevant education.
The lecturers within this training course were Gordana Samardžić from the Republic Public Prosecutor's Office and Jelena Stojanović and Jelena Ćirić from the Pištaljka (i.e. Whistle) attorney team.
