Improving the institutional response to domestic violence

In cooperation with the Judicial Academy,Forum of Judges of Serbia and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), on April 4, 2024, in the Kragujevac hotel, a workshop was organized on the topic: "Domestic violence - improving the institutional response to domestic violence".


The topics covered at the workshop were:
- Legal protection against domestic violence (review of the international and national legal framework)
- Law on Prevention of Domestic Violence (practice, challenges and dilemmas)
- Risk assessment (how do we assess whether to determine/extend an emergency measure, and how to propose/determine detention)
- The criminal offense of domestic violence from Article 194 CC and related criminal offenses (prosecution, witness protection and court practice)

The lecturers at the training were Ivana Milovanović, judgeof the High Court in Nis, and Gorjana Mirčić Čaluković, deputy public prosecutor and coordinator for gender-based violence.

Develop and conduct training programmes for holders of judiciary offices and other staff in the judiciary system, aimed at acquiring new knowledge and its promotion, development of special abilities and skills, to contribute to strengthening of professional and accountable judiciary system.
