Application of Article 31 (1) of the Convention on the Status of Refugees and Article 8 of the Law on Asylum and Provisional Protection - Principle of impunity
In cooperation, the Judicial Academy was organized by the UNHCR, a one-day seminar on 23. April 2025. in Belgrade, on the topic: "Application of Article 31 (1) of the Convention on the Status of Refugees and Article 8 of the Law on Asylum and Provisional Protection - Principle of impunity."
The seminar was organized for judges and judges' assistants of misdemeanor courts that act in this matter.
The introductory word had Srdjan Pavličić, VF. Director of the Judicial Academy and Jelena Milonjić Representative UNHCR.
The key topics that were processed at the seminar were:
• Principle of impunity, Article 31 (1) of the Convention on the Status of Refugees and International Standards;
• Law on Asylum and Provisional Protection and Asylum System in the Republic of Serbia;
• Principle of impunity in the judicial practice of misdemeanor courts in the Republic of Serbia.
Lecturers at the seminar were:
• Biljana Sinanović, judge of the Supreme Court in Pension and Permanent Lecturer at the Judicial Academy;
• Dražen Grubović, Asylum Office, Ministry of Interior;
• Bojan Stojanović, UNHCR, Department of Legal Protection.
