The Judicial Academy of the RS, in cooperation with the UNDP of Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized a three-day training on the topic: "Criminal protection of the environment". The training was held from September 20 to 22, 2023 in Konjic in SHOULD, and was intended for judges, prosecutors, environmental inspectors and police officers SHOULD.

The training program was as follows:

  • On the first day of the seminar, the participants were presented with the following topics:

    - Criminological characteristics of environmental crime in Bosnia and Herzegovina - speaker Dr. Sandra Kobajica, docent from the Faculty of Criminal Sciences of the University of Sarajevo;

    - Practice of the European Court of Human Rights - presenter Natalia Kobularz, senior lawyer from the European Court of Human Rights;

    - Legal regulations in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the field of environmental protection - presenter Petar Pavlović, legal expert;

    - The role of the Treaty of Lisbon in the development of environmental law of the European Union and the role of the European Court of Justice in the development of environmental law - speaker prof. Dr. Mirjana Drenovak-Ivanović from the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade.

  • The second day of the seminar included the following topics:

    - Criminal material protection of the environment and environmental crimes, prescribed by the Criminal Code of the Republic of Serbia and presenting a hypothetical case as well as solving it - presenter Siniša Važić, judge of the Court of Appeal in Belgrade (retired);

    - Criminal acts against the environment - presentation of the "Gikyl" case in Bosnia and Herzegovina - presenter Vedran Alidžanović, prosecutor from the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Tuzla Canton;

    - Investigation into environmental matters - hazardous waste, the prosecution's relationship with the media, citizens and NGOs regarding environmental crimes - presented by Danijela Sinđelić, chief prosecutor from the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Obrenovac.

  • The third was dedicated to TOT, the training of potential lecturers in criminal legal protection of the environment such as: Adult learning methodology, interactive training, designing training programs, training materials as well as training preparation and simulation. The trainers of this type of training were: Andrea Delibašić and Stefan Vučićević from the Judicial Academy of the RS.
