The Judicial Academy, in cooperation with UNICEF, organized the seminar "International Legal Assistance in Civil Matters" on October 30, 2025 in Novi Sad, in the hall of the Court of Appeal. This seminar was attended by judges and assistant judges who act in the civil area from the territory of the Novi Sad appeal.

The topics covered in this training were:
    •    sources of law - national and international in relation to family law;
    •    international legal assistance in family matters;
    •    The Hague Convention on the Service Abroad of Judicial and Extrajudicial Acts in Civil and Commercial Matters from 1965;
    •    other multilateral and bilateral conventions that apply to family matters;
    •    family law with an international element;
    •    national and international sources;
    •    Convention on Jurisdiction, Governing Law, Recognition and Enforcement of Decisions and Cooperation in Matters of Parental Responsibility and Measures for the Protection of Children from 1996;
    •    The Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction from 1980;
    •    The 2007 Convention on the International Enforcement of Child and Other Family Support and the 2007 Hague Protocol on Applicable Law for Maintenance Obligations;
    •    presentation of a case from ECtHR practice (Carlson v. Switzerland, No. 49492/06 of November 6, 2008);
    •    determining and assessing the best interests of the child in family law disputes with an international element (hypothetical cases);
    •    preparation of court decisions from family law with an international element.

The lecturers at this training were: Snežana Milićević and Ljubica Milutinović, retired judges of the Supreme Court and permanent lecturers at the Judicial Academy, and prof. Dr. Slavko Đorđević, full professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Kragujevac.
