Project "Justitia" - Firearms in the courtroom
The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) through its Global Firearms Program, in cooperation with the Judicial Academy and the Criminalistics and Police University, organized training on the topic "Firearms in the Courtroom" in the period from 5 to 6 December 2024 in the premises of the Criminal Police Department University in Belgrade.
The goals of the training were reflected in getting to know the technical characteristics of firearms, their parts, ammunition and explosive substances, as well as with judicial practice and controversial legal issues that arise in these cases. During the training, special attention was paid to the orders for expert reports and the reconstruction of crimes committed with firearms.
The topics covered in the said training are as follows:
- Getting to know the normative framework that regulates firearms, their parts and ammunition
- Getting to know "V" category firearms
- Familiarity with convertible weapons
- Familiarization with "A" category weapons
- New types of weapons, new threats and handcrafted weapons
- UNODC Collection of Case Law in Firearms Cases
- Disputed legal issues regarding category "A" and "V" firearms
- Disputed legal issues related to convertible weapons and explosives
- Order for expert examination of firearms
- Reconstruction of crimes committed with the use of weapons
The lecturers at the training were:
