The relationship between the court and the media
The Judicial Academy, in cooperation with the OSCE Mission in Serbia and the US Embassy, organized a round table on the topic of "Relation between the court and the media".
The panel was held on October 2, 2024 at the Sheraton Hotel in Novi Sad.
The panel topics were:
- Reporting on criminal proceedings, freedom of expression, practice of the European Court of Human Rights;
- Reporting on litigation, damages and presumption of innocence;
- Implementation of the Code of Ethics for journalists and the experience of journalists in cooperation with the courts;
- SLAP lawsuits as a threat to investigative journalism;
- Protecting the safety of journalists, judicial practice in the interpretation of threats, sentencing, as well as challenges in court proceedings where journalists have been harmed.
The speakers were:
- Darko Tadić, President of the Court of Appeal in Novi Sad;
- Tamara Filipović, Secretary General of NUNS;
- Bojana Stanković, judge of the First Basic Court in Belgrade;
- Bojana Čogurić, judge of the High Court in Belgrade;
- Jelena Petković, member of the complaints commission of the press council;
- Ana Toskić Cvetinović, Partners - Serbia;
- Katarina Manojlović Andrić, former judge of the Supreme and Constitutional Courts;
- Kruna Savović, lawyer.
