The training was provided to the presidents, judges, and judicial assistants of the basic, high, and commercial courts, as well as to the representatives of the State Attorney Office from the territory of the Niš appellate jurisdiction.
In order to bring closer the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights and of local courts in this matter to the participants, the training included the presentation of examples of local cases in which the standards of the European Court were applied, as well as of the notion of the reasonable time and the notion of the right to a trial within reasonable time as an autonomous notion.
In the course of the training, the Instructions for the Improvement and Promotion of the Procedure of Conclusion and Enforcement of Out-of-court Settlement in the Procedures for the Protection of the Right to a Trial within Reasonable Time were also presented, as well as the criteria for evaluation of the length of the duration of proceedings and the right to a fair compensation.
The participants also had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the e-juris application of the Judicial Academy, which contains the database of the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights in the Serbian language, which significantly facilitates the daily work to the judges.
The lecturers within this training were: Nenad Vujić, the Director of the Judicial Academy, Sonja Simonović-Stojanović, Justice of the Appellate Court in Niš, Sonja Prostran from the USAID Rule of Law Project, and Biljana Stepanović from the Judicial Academy.
