Recognition and protection against undue influence on judges
In Niš, on June 7, at the "Tami" hotel, the training "Recognition and protection against undue influence on judges" was held in the organization of the Project "Strengthening the independence and responsibility of the judiciary", which is implemented as part of the Horizontal Facility program for the Western Balkans and Turkey in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice academy. This training was attended by newly elected judges of basic courts from the territory of the Nis appeal.
The following topics were covered at the "Recognition and protection against undue influence on judges" training:
- The notion of undue influence in the judiciary;
- Judicial independence and protection from undue influence on judges - international standards and national legal framework;
- Guide for judges - protection from unauthorized influence (Zorana Delibašić, deputy president of the High Council of the Judiciary, judge competent to act in cases of unauthorized influence on the work of judges and the judiciary, judge of the Court of Appeal in Belgrade, address via video message);
- Types of undue influence, mechanisms for protection against undue influence and examples from comparative and domestic practice.
The lecturers at this training were: Omer Hadžiomerović, president Ethics Committee of the High Council of the Judiciary and retired judge of the Court of Appeal, Ivana Marković Radojević, member of the Ethics Committee of the High Council of the Judiciary and Judges Court of Appeal in Belgrade, and Marijana Aranđelović Jureša, Deputy President of the High Council of the Judiciary and Judges of the High Court in Belgrade.
