Welcoming remarks were made to the participants of the Round Table by the Director of the Judicial Academy, Mr. Nenad Vujić, and by the Head of the Human Rights and Criminal Justice System Programme of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, Mrs. Nataša Novaković, while the lecturers were the Professor of the Faculty of Law in Kragujevac, Mr. Stanko Bejatović, Deputy Republic Public Prosecutor, Mrs. Jasmina Kiurski, and the Commissioner for the Independence of Prosecutors and Deputy Republic Public Prosecutor, Mr. Goran Ilić.
The topics of the Round Table were:
- General actions the prosecutor’s office it to undertake in this process and the time frame
- The position of the accused in the procedure of application of the principle of opportunity of criminal prosecution and types of legal obligations that lay be ordered to the accused
- Supervision over the issued orders imposed upon the accused
- The types of criminal offences concerning which it is possible to postpone criminal prosecution
- The relationships and cooperation between the subjects in the process of application of the principle of opportunity and its impact on recidivism.The round table was attended by 37 public prosecutor office holders.
