The training courses, which will be provided from September 2019 to July 2020, will cover 1,500 judges of the courts of the regular and special jurisdictions in Serbia.

The lecturers are the judges – the members of the first-instance and the second-instance disciplinary bodies of the High Judicial Council.

The purpose of the training courses is raising awareness of the judicial office holders of the objective, nature and importance of disciplinary liability for their professional attitude towards the work, as well as a more detailed familiarization with the behaviours that may constitute the basis for disciplinary liability. This training is particularly important in view of the fact that the topic of disciplinary liability of judges has multiple significance both for the independence of the judiciary, the integrity of judges, the trust of the citizens and the reputation of the judiciary, and for the progress of Serbia on its European path.

Create the prerequisites for the development of professionalism in holders of judiciary office by establishing clear, measurable and objective criteria for the election and career advancement and their training and professional development, in line with core values and principles the judiciary system is founded on.

Goal

Develop and conduct training programmes for holders of judiciary offices and other staff in the judiciary system, aimed at acquiring new knowledge and its promotion, development of special abilities and skills, to contribute to strengthening of professional and accountable judiciary system.
