The objective of the workshop is enhancement and updating of the basic knowledge and capacities with regard to the prevention of unethical processing, conflicts of interest and non-compliance, control and management of the risks of corruption in the judicature and establishing of the necessary skills and instruments for the increase of integrity of the judiciary and resistance to corruption, within the judicial system and judicial administrative services.

The workshop provided practical instructions for ethical processing in the situations of contradiction between official rules and the tradition or when clear answers are lacking concerning how to act in concrete situations. This is particularly important in the countries having a high level of corruption, where there are numerous gray areas that have not as yet been resolved owing to formal rules.

The lecturers were: Virgil Ivan-Cucu, Senior Lecturer in the European Centre for Judges and Lawyers (EIPA Luxemburg) and the Key Expert for Judicial Capacity Building in the Euro-Mediterranean Organization for Cooperation in the Field of Justice (EuroMed), and Mohamed Elewa, Professor of Comparative and International Criminal Law and Islamic Law, the University in Northumbria, GB.
