Introductory meeting to mark the beginning of the HELP online course: "International Cooperation in Criminal Matters"
The Judicial Academy, in cooperation with the Council of Europe, on March 28, 2024, at the offices of the Council of Europe in Belgrade, organized an introductory meeting for public prosecutors and public prosecutor associates of the Supreme Public Prosecutor's Office, the Public Prosecutor's Office for War Crimes, the Appellate, Higher, First, of the Second and Third Public Prosecutor's Offices in Belgrade, on the occasion of marking the beginning of the tutored HELP online course of the Council of Europe: "International cooperation in criminal matters".
Online training is implemented with the support of the Council of Europe projects "HELP in the Western Balkans" and "Prevention of money laundering and financing of terrorism in Serbia" is intended for public prosecutors and public prosecutor's assistants who also attended the introductory meeting.
The HELP online course "International Cooperation in Criminal Matters" explores the basic principles of international judicial cooperation, legal frameworks and legal instruments for international cooperation that apply taking into account general human rights considerations, extradition and surrender, transfer of convicted persons, transfer of proceedings, international validity criminal judgments, supervision of convicted persons and temporary and permanent confiscation of property resulting from a criminal offense.
At the introductory meeting, the course participants were addressed by:
. Janoš Babić - head of the Council of Europe Office in Belgrade;
. Nenad Vujić - director of the Judicial Academy;
. Ana Selić - program manager of the Department for Economic Crime and Cooperation of the Council of Europe;
. Jasminka Peruničić Alen - HELP project coordinator in the Western Balkans;
. Siniša Važić - judge of the Appellate Court in Belgrade, retired - course tutor;
. Ivana Ramić - judge of the High Court in Belgrade - course tutor.
The moderator of the introductory meeting was Predrag Nikolić, project coordinator of the Office of the Council of Europe in Belgrade.
The aim of this online course is to improve knowledge and skills in the field of international cooperation in criminal matters.
The planned duration of the course is from March 28 to May 31, 2024.
After completing the course, the participants will be presented with a certificate of attendance, i.e. of successful completion of the course, jointly issued by the Judicial Academy and the Council of Europe.
