The Judicial Academy is in cooperation with the Council of Europe projectHorizontal Facilities for the Western Balkans and Turkey, regional action "Access to justice for women in the Western Balkans",  on March 17, 2024, organized an online introductory meeting to mark the start of the Council of Europe's tutored HELP online course on the topic: "Access to justice for women".
The course was developed as part of the Partnership for Good Governance project "Strengthening access to justice for women victims of violence in six countries of the Eastern Partnership", and was developed by the Department for Gender Equality in cooperation with the HELP program of the Council of Europe. This course is intended for judges and prosecutors from the countries of the region.

The HELP online course "Access to justice for women" provides a comprehensive overview of international and European standards for women's rights and gender equality, case law and good practices. This is the first HELP course that represents a unique source of knowledge on gender equality and justice issues, including extensive Council of Europe standards, monitoring reports and soft law instruments in this area.

At the introductory regional meeting, the course participants were addressed by the national tutors as well as:
-    Anka Sandescu, Project Manager, Department for Gender Equality, Council of Europe
-    Jasminka Peruničić Alen, project coordinator of HELP in the Western Balkans
-    Elizabeth Duban, expert from the Council of Europe, as well as the author of the course "Access to justice for women"
-    Olivera Pejak Prokeš, judge of the Appellate Court in Novi Sad, HELP tutor of the course for participants from Serbia

The introductory regional online meeting was attended by members of the National Network of Judges and Prosecutors for the Implementation of the Standards of the European Court of Human Rights in the Republic of Serbia, judges of basic, higher and appellate courts in the Republic of Serbia, public prosecutors of basic and higher public prosecutions in Republic of Serbia and assistant judges.

The planned duration of the course is from April 17, 2024. until June 20, 2024. years.

After completing the course, the participants will be presented with a certificate of attendance - a successfully completed course, jointly issued by the Judicial Academy and the Council of Europe.
