Promotion of the publication "Guidelines for compensation for non-material damages in case of discrimination"

In the regional office of the Judicial Academy in Nis, on December 17, 2025, with the support of the OSCE Mission in Serbia, the second promotion of the publication "Guidelines for compensation for non-material damages in case of discrimination" was held.

The lecturers at the training were the authors of the publication, prof. Dr. Nevena Petrušić, retired full professor of the Faculty of Law, University of Niš, and Jelica Bojanić Kerkez, retired judge of the Supreme Court.

Opening speeches were given by Andrea Delibašić, advisor in the Department for Research and Improvement of Education of the Judicial Academy, and Jelena Jokanović, program coordinator in the OSCE Mission to Serbia.

The presented publication is the result of examination of educational needs, analysis of cases and court practice, regional meetings and cooperation, but above all the work of focus groups and conversations with judges who made a valuable contribution with their experience and comments.

The guidelines are intended as a tool and landmark, and should be an aid in more effective application of the law and protection of victims of discrimination.

The Judicial Academy once again takes the opportunity to thank the authors of the publication for their time, effort and work, as well as the OSCE Mission in Serbia for recognizing the importance of the topic and long-term support and cooperation in the development of professional development training programs.

The continuation of the promotion of the Guidelines is planned for the next calendar year.

Online training on "Anti-discrimination legislation" consists of six modules:
• causes, concept and forms of discrimination;
• legal framework for protection against discrimination;
• discrimination based on personal characteristics;
• discrimination according to groups and areas;
• protection against discrimination;
• final test.

The training is available on the distance learning platform of the Judicial Academylms.pars.rs (Recorded training - Anti-discrimination legislation).
