Support of the Judicial Academy's activities within the campaign "16 days of activism against gender-based violence"
The Judicial Academy supported this year's global campaign "16 days of activism against gender-based violence" by participating in cultural events aimed at spreading awareness and combating prejudices and stereotypes on the topic of gender-based violence.
Representatives of the judiciary, users of initial training and the staff of the Judicial Academy watched a special performance of the playPrima facie in Bitef Theatre. The aim of the play is to inform, warn and potentially change the perspective of looking at cases of sexual abuse in the long term. The post-show discussion allowed the audience to get to know more about the problems victims face, as well as ways they can provide support and proactively respond.
On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, the "Digital Reality" event was held at the European House, with the support of the UN Women office in Serbia.
A multimedia installation of large-sized mirrors, as the main segment of the event, aims to symbolically show a cross-section of our digital reality. The installation gives an overview of the patterns of gender-based digital violence on the X platform during the last few years in Serbia, with a focus on 20 profiles of famous women from different fields, including five Agents of Change, participants in the event.
The event was opened by Pol Jukić, Political Counselor of the Embassy of the United States of America in Serbia, Plamena Halačeva, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation in Serbia, Brankica Janković, Commissioner for the Protection of Equality, Bojana Šćepanović, State Secretary in the Ministry of Justice, Nenad Vujić, Director of the Judicial Academy, and Milan Rikanović, director of the UN Women office in Serbia.
Nenad Vujić emphasized the importance of working against prejudices and stereotypes, zero tolerance for violence, timely response of the system, proactive and preventive action and adequate sanctions.
He pointed to the long-term work of the Judicial Academy in this area, as well as the training programs that are actively being implemented and those available on the distance learning platform of the Judicial Academy. He once again thanked Gorjana Mirčić Čaluković, public prosecutor of the Third Basic Public Prosecutor's Office assigned to the Judicial Academy, for her contribution to improving the quality of training in the field of gender-based violence and domestic violence.
After the introductory speeches, the change agents addressed the audience, and a short panel was held with the symbolic theme "It's not her fault!".
The Judicial Academy thanks its partners for the opportunity to actively support the "16 days of activism against gender-based violence" campaign. In the coming period, it will continue to actively implement training programs on the topics of domestic violence and gender-based violence.
