Application of Article 31(1) of the Convention on the Status of Refugees and Article 8 of the Law on Asylum and Temporary Protection - the principle of impunity
The Judicial Academy, in cooperation with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), organized a one-day seminar on November 4, 2025 in Belgrade, on the topic: "Application of Article 31(1) of the Convention on the Status of Refugees and Article 8 of the Law on Asylum and Temporary Protection - the principle of impunity".
The seminar was organized for judges and assistant judges of misdemeanor courts who act in this matter.
The key topics covered at the seminar were:
• The principle of impunity, Article 31(1) of the Convention on the Status of Refugees and international standards
• The Law on Asylum and Temporary Protection and the Asylum System in the Republic of Serbia
• The principle of non-punishment in the judicial practice of misdemeanor courts in the Republic of Serbia
The lecturers at the seminar were:
