Improving coordination among key actors with the aim of better law enforcement and processing of environmental crime cases
Judicial Academy in cooperation with OSCE mission in Serbia and with the Project "Improving the capacity of the criminal justice system of Serbia to effectively deal with crime in accordance with human rights standards, phase 3" organized training on the topic "Improving coordination among key actors with the aim of better application of the law and processing of environmental crime cases".
The training was held on October 27, 2023 in the hall of the Institute for Criminological and Sociological Research in Belgrade (Gračanička 18), and was attended by public prosecutors, environmental protection inspectors and crime inspectors.
The lecturers at the training were:
- Slavko Mladenović, Head of Department for Biodiversity Protection, Ministry of Environmental Protection;
- Mališa Mladenović, head of the group for geodiversity and landscape, Ministry of Environmental Protection;
- Rajka Opančina, head of the department for hazardous and other waste, Ministry of Environmental Protection;
- Dragana Krunić, lieutenant colonel of the police and deputy head of the Unit for Suppression of Environmental Crime and Environmental Protection, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Directorate of Criminal Police;
- Branislava Vučković, public prosecutor, Appellate Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad.
The topics of the training were:
- Management of protected areas;
- Hazardous waste management;
- Action of the police in cases of improper management of hazardous waste and illegal activities in protected areas - powers, possibilities and most common problems;
- Action of the public prosecutor in cases of improper management of hazardous waste and illegal activities in protected areas;
- Possibilities for improving the work of state authorities in cases of improper management of hazardous waste and illegal activities in protected areas - adoption of conclusions and recommendations.
