International bankruptcy
The Judicial Academy, in cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, continued to implement the project: "Training of commercial judges who act in bankruptcy cases".
On this occasion, on November 20, 2024, in Belgrade In a hybrid form, a one-day seminar was organized on the topic: "International Bankruptcy".
The following topics were presented at the seminar:
- Supervision of the work of bankruptcy trustees, Quarterly reports on the course of bankruptcy proceedings and the state of the bankruptcy estate (lecturer Jelena Todić, director of the Center for Supervision and Development of the Profession, Agency for Licensing Bankruptcy Trustees);
- Transposition of Directive 2019/1023 of the European Parliament and the Council on frameworks for preventive restructuring, on debt repayment and disqualifications, as well as on measures to increase the efficiency of procedures related to restructuring, insolvency and debt discharge (lecturer Miha Zebre, legal affairs and policy officer in General Directorate for Justice and consumers in the European Commission);
- Directive 2019/1023 of the European Parliament and the Council on frameworks for preventive restructuring, on debt repayment and disqualifications, as well as on measures to increase the efficiency of procedures related to restructuring, insolvency and debt discharge (lecturer Prof. Dr. Paul Omar, lecturer at De Montfort University );
- Transposition of EU Directive 2019/1023 in Croatia (lecturer Prof. Jasnica Garašić, Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb);
- Directive 2019/1023 and its transposition in Serbia (lecturer Nikola Ivčevski, judge of the Commercial Court of Appeal).
25 judges and assistant judges of commercial courts from all over Serbia participated in the seminar.
