Juveniles as criminal offenders and criminal protection of juveniles
This seminar is a part of the initial training for acquiring a certificate on specialized knowledge on juveniles as criminal offenders and criminal protection of juveniles. The seminar was organized for judges, prosecutors and deputy prosecutors within the Novi Sad Appellate Court jurisdiction.
The following topics were presented during the seminar:
- Substantive law within the Law on Juvenile Criminal Offenders and Criminal Protection of Juveniles suing criminal sanctions against juveniles; selection and issuing of criminal sanctions against juveniles;
- Procedural provisions of the Law on Juvenile Criminal Offenders and Criminal Protection of Juveniles and its application in practice;
- The European Convention on Human Rights with a threshold concept of Child-friendly justice, as well as comments and reasons for adopting a new Law on Juvenile Criminal Offenders and Criminal Protection of Juveniles and protection of juveniles in the criminal proceedings.
The lecturers on this training were Milan Škulic, Phd, the Law School professor at the University of Belgrade and a judge of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Serbia, Ivana Stevanović, PhD, Director of the Institute for Criminological and Sociological Research and a member of the Council for Child Rights of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and Nenad Vujic, Director of the Judicial Academy.
