Promotion Guidelines for determining non-material damage in cases of discrimination
Organized by the Judicial Academy and officeOSCE missions in Serbia 19.11. 2025 in the premises of the OSCE Mission the promotion of the publication "Guidelines for determining non-material damages in cases of discrimination“.
The event was attended by judges of the Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal in Belgrade and the High Court in Belgrade, representatives of the scientific community, lawyers, the non-governmental sector and guests from the judicial institutions of countries in the region.
Introductory speeches were given by Nino Gogolaže, senior advisor of the OSCE Mission to Serbia, and Andrea Delibašić, advisor in the Department for Research and Improvement of Education of the Judicial Academy.
The representatives of the Judicial Academy and the OSCE Mission emphasized that discrimination is a phenomenon that does not lose its importance and that it represents a permanent challenge for any society that strives for the rule of law. It was especially emphasized that a timely and adequate reaction of the institutions is crucial, as well as that the uniform determination of non-material damage is an important corrective and preventive mechanism.
During the presentation of the Guidelines, the authors presented the methodological approach, relevant court practice and criteria that can contribute to the uniformity of court practice.
The promotion of the Guidelines represents a continuation of the long-standing cooperation between the Judicial Academy and the OSCE Mission. The continuation of the Smernica promotions is planned for the next calendar year.
The Judicial Academy takes the opportunity to once again thank the OSCE Mission for recognizing the importance of this topic and for its continued support for the development of the Judicial Academy's program.
