Representatives of the Judicial Academy, Maja Prelić Simović, deputy director, and Igor Milovanov, head of the Department for Research and Education Improvement, participated in a study visit from May 8 to 12.Academy of European Law (ERA) in Trier.

Cooperation between the Judicial Academy and the Academy of European Law (ERA)

The study visit brought together 26 representatives of national judicial training institutions and bar associations of the Western Balkan countries, during which they first of all got acquainted with the mission and work of the European Law Academy (ERA), its activities, formats and training methodology it organizes.

 

After a comprehensive discussion and analysis of training needs on European Union law for judicial officers and lawyers in the countries of the Western Balkans, and in the context of the European integration process, the next steps in joint cooperation and the development of the strategy of the European Law Academy (ERA) in relation to the countries were defined of the Western Balkans in the coming years.

 

The program of the study visit consisted of plenary sessions, special sessions dedicated to individual countries, as well as sessions that grouped representatives of national institutions for training in the judiciary, i.e. bar associations, all with the aim of a clearer overview of the contribution and support that the Academy of European Law (ERA) would provide ) could provide at the national and regional level to holders of judicial positions and lawyers in the Western Balkans.

 

The participants of the study visit had the opportunity to visit the European Court of Justice, attend the trial and discuss with Marko Ilešić, a judge of the European Court of Justice from Slovenia. During the study visit, the participants also met with representatives of the European Commission.

 

As a form of continuation of joint cooperation, the director of the Academy for European Law (ERA) Jean-Philippe Ragad came on a return visit to the Republic of Serbia and the Judicial Academy on May 17 and 18, during which he met with Nenad Vujić, director of the Judicial Academy, and Branislav Stojanović. assistant to the Minister of Justice for European integration and international projects.
