Writing indictments
The Judicial Academy, in cooperation with the Office for International Assistance, Training and Professional Training in the Judiciary (UPDATE), the US Department of Justice, the OSCE Mission to Serbia and the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Serbia, organized a two-day workshop "Writing indictments" on December 5 and 6, 2023. " in Niš in the hotel "Tami". This two-day workshop was attended by public prosecutors from basic and higher public prosecutor's offices from the territories of Belgrade, Niš and Kragujevac appeals, as well as judges from higher and basic courts from the territory of Niš appeals.
The goals of this workshop are to help deputy prosecutors and assistant prosecutors to concisely and logically organize facts and principles, to better understand the process of legal decision-making and writing of indictments, as well as to improve representation skills. By clearer, higher quality, more consistent writing of indictments, the educational program strives to develop and strengthen the application of best practice.
The topics covered at this workshop are:
- Understanding indictments and charges
- The role of the prosecutor
- The purpose, structure and style of writing acts of public prosecutors
- Methodology of legal reasoning, informal order of evidence
- Application of the FIRAC method
- Sentence of the indictment
- Explanation of the indictment
The lecturers at this workshop were: Ksenija Dajanović, public prosecutor in the Appellate Public Prosecutor's Office in Novi Sad, Dragoljub Miladinović, public prosecutor in the Appellate Public Prosecutor's Office in Niš and head of the anti-corruption department, Leposava Vujanović Porubović, public prosecutor in the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, and Goran Jović Public Prosecutor from the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime.
