Confiscation of property resulting from a criminal act
As part of the Project to Support Serbia in Achieving the Goals of Chapter 24: Justice, Freedom and Security" funded by the European Commission, on October 10 and 11, 2024, a two-day workshop was held in Belgrade at the "Envoy" Congress Center on the topic: "Seizure of property resulting from from a criminal offense", with the special aim of improving the professional skills of law enforcement authorities, the public prosecutor's office and the judiciary, for the confiscation of property acquired through criminal offences.
The lecturers were domestic and international experts in this field:
- Nevenka Važić - retired judge of the Supreme Court of Serbia
- Ivan Marković - public prosecutor from the Special Department for the fight against corruption in the Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Nis.
- Igor Veljić - police inspector from the Financial Investigations Unit of SBPOK.
- Dragana Živković - Head of the Department for Management of Confiscated Assets and permanent representative of the Republic of Serbia in the BAMIN network.
- Elena Lorente Pablo - Senior Public Prosecutor, Special Prosecutor's Office for the fight against corruption and organized crime (Spain).
- David Gonzalez Burguera - senior judge at the Criminal Court of Vilanova and La Geltru (Barcelona) and former lawyer at the European Courts of Human Rights (Spain).
- Alessandro Pulcri - Lieutenant Colonel Carabinieri, Raggruppamento Operativo Speciale (ROS) - Special Operations Group (Italy).
- Giovanni Angelini - Guardia di Finanza Major, Team Leader at the Guardia di Finanza Headquarters - International Cooperation Office (Italy).
The moderators of the workshop were Mrs. Marta Pizarro Maio (expert for judicial and prosecutorial issues on the project) and Mr. Alfredo Saviano (expert on serious and organized crime on the project).
