After the recently signed Memorandum of Cooperation between the Judicial Academy of the Republic of Serbia and the Higher Judicial School of the Republic of Italy, in the organization of the joint project of the Council of Europe and the European Union "Support for judicial reform in Serbia", a study visit of the Serbian delegation to the Italian judiciary was realized in the period from September 23 to 26. institutions. 

Representatives of the Judicial Academy of the Republic of Serbia, the High Council of the Judiciary, the High Council of the Prosecution and the Ministry of Justice, led by the President of the Supreme Court of Serbia, Judge Jasmina Vasović, the Minister of Justice, Mrs. Maja Popović and the Director of the Judicial Academy, Mr. Nenad Vujić, visited the Supreme Court of Cassation of Italy, the High Judicial the Council of Italy, the Ministry of Justice and the High Judicial School of the Republic of Italy.

In addition to the director, the Judicial Academy of the Republic of Serbia was represented by the deputy director, Ms. Maja Prelić Simović, Nataša Krivokapić, public prosecutor in the Supreme Public Prosecutor's Office and member of the board of directors of the Judicial Academy, and Andrea Delibašić, advisor in the Department for Research and Education Improvement.


The main goal of the study visit was to improve the methodology of training judicial officials through the exchange of knowledge and experience with Italian colleagues, as well as the dissemination of examples of good practice from both countries.

The main topics of the meetings were: initial training of future holders of judicial functions, the position and role of the High Council of the Judiciary and the High Council of the Prosecution in defining the program of permanent and initial training, the legal framework and conditions for the selection of holders of judicial functions, continuous professional education of holders of judicial functions as one of the criteria for the first selection and promotion, organization, implementation and evaluation of training, selection and training of mentors and lecturers, online learning, examination of educational needs.

The visit was also an opportunity to hold the first meeting of the representatives of the Judicial Academy of the Republic of Serbia and the High Judicial School of Italy and to define the next steps and joint activities in order to further implement the signed Memorandum of Cooperation.
